number of bedrooms
The total number of distinct spaces designed to hold beds within a building or other built object.
The number of bedrooms in a building, structure, group of buildings, or other built object is the total quantity of distinct spaces designed to hold beds. Each bedroom should generally be divided from other areas within the building by walls or partitions.
The number of bedrooms reflects the designed intention of a space, not necessarily the present usage. Therefore if a bedroom is used as a library or a study, it is still counted as a bedroom.
A general room count can include spaces that were not designed to hold beds. It is therefore distinct from the bedroom count, which concerns the sleeping spaces described above.
