As a form of structure, an artwork is a permanently installed outdoor artistic object. Artworks which belong to the architecture of another structure, such as facade carvings and statues on rooftops, are not listed.
An artwork is listed singly even if it is divided into multiple freestanding sections. In this sense the artwork's identity is left to the artist's discretion, although artworks whose elements are scattered too widely might be listed as multiple structures.
The work can have several freestanding parts while retaining one artistic identity. Its permanence and independence from another structure distinguish it from architectural decoration attached to a building.
