freight elevator load (max)

The maximum weight which a freight elevator can safely carry, expressed in kilograms or pounds.

The maximum freight elevator load is the highest weight which a freight elevator in a structure or module is allowed to carry, expressed in kilograms or pounds. (This refers to the total weight of objects and people.) This figure can be taken from posted allowances, even if those allowances are conservative.

The allowance covers the combined load carried in the elevator. The weight of an accompanying operator or other passenger uses part of the same allowance as the goods.

A posted load limit can therefore be used without estimating the weight at which the mechanism would fail. The figure describes the permitted carried load, excluding the elevator car itself.
