An ice cream parlor is a full service restaurant with sit-down table service, whose main specialty is ice cream or similar frozen desserts. It differs from an ice cream stand, where customers simply pick up their ice cream from behind a counter.
Many ice cream parlors also offer to-go services.
Table service distinguishes the parlor from an ice cream shop selling at a counter. An additional take-out service is permitted without replacing the restaurant arrangement.
