A constructed site with one or more runways for airplane takeoffs and landings, usually with supporting aircraft facilities.
An airport is a site constructed for the take-off and landing of airplanes. It features one or more runways for this purpose, and usually includes facilities for loading, boarding, taxiing, storage, and maintenance of airplanes.
At least one runway provides for airplane operations. Passenger boarding and cargo loading can be supported by terminal facilities.
Storage, taxiing, and maintenance areas are usual accompanying facilities. The definition does not require scheduled passenger service.
