Amphitheaters and bandshells both belong to this category, as well as other permanent outdoor stages with an accompanying viewing area. Component elements may include seating, a stage platform, a proscenium, stage props, subsidiary backrooms, or a sheltering roof.
The stage and viewing area form a venue for music or drama. Amphitheaters and bandshells are included forms.
A sheltering roof or backstage rooms can be part of the venue without enclosing the whole audience space. The definition does not require every listed stage or seating component.
