crop field

A distinct area prepared or used to grow plants for harvest in rows or a continuous expanse, bounded from neighboring land.

A crop field is a distinct piece of land which is plowed, prepared, or actively used for growing rows or a continuous expanse of plants for harvest. This type of field is separated from other pieces of land by property lines, clear gaps, rows of trees, natural boundaries, walls, or other boundaries; multiple planted areas may occupy a single field. A field may be flat, undulating, or sloped. The plants grown on it may be grassy, herbaceous, flowers, bushes, vines, trees, or virtually any other form of land-growing plant.

The boundary identifies the field even when several planted areas lie within it. Property lines, gaps, vegetation, or other visible or natural divisions can provide that separation.

The field can be flat, undulating, or sloped, and its crops need not be grassy plants. A crop-terrace area has the additional organization into constructed levels.
