The number of vehicle lanes is the total number of parallel designated pathways for motorized road vehicles, including lanes in both directions if available. This applies especially to structures like bridges and tunnels.

The total combines lanes in opposing directions where both are present. A count for only one direction is therefore different from the full vehicle-lane count.

The number of tracks concerns rail-guided transport. A pedestrian path or rail track is not a lane for motorized road vehicles.
