airport passenger gate
A point at which airplane passengers exit an airport terminal or concourse to board an aircraft.
An airport passenger gate is an entry-exit point in an airport concourse or terminal where passengers leave to board an aircraft or enter from an aircraft after landing. Gates may or may not connect to aircraft with a jetway; they may also lead directly outside to where passengers transfer to the aircraft by foot or bus.
The gate connects terminal circulation with boarding or arrival from an aircraft. Its entry-and-exit role covers passengers moving in either direction.
A jetway is one possible connection. A gate leading to an outdoor walk or bus transfer still serves the same aircraft-passenger transition.
