A municipal police station is a base of operations used by any city-level police department, including city, town, village, township, and other municipalities or governmental bodies at a comparable level. There may be several such stations within a single municipality.

The governing police authority is municipal. A town, village, or township can have this level of police service without being called a city.

Several stations may serve one municipality. The definition does not require a single central station or the department's headquarters.
