The facade of a structure is re-used on the same site when the facade or a major part of it is preserved after demolition, and when a new structure is completed on the same site, with that facade forming an integral part of it.

Usually when this occurs, the facade remains standing after demolition, supported by a temporary framework, and forms part or the whole of the new structure's facade. However in some cases the facade is dismantled and re-assembled in the same place. Also, there are a few cases where it winds up behind the facade of the new structure, usually visible behind glass or inside an interior space which engulfs the facade.

Completion of the replacement structure establishes the event. The facade can remain standing, be dismantled and reassembled, or be incorporated behind the new exterior, provided it forms an integral part on the same site.
