elevator speed (max)
The highest speed along its travel path attainable by the fastest elevator in a structure.
The maximum elevator speed is the highest speed along its shaft which the fastest elevator in a structure can achieve in its present form. In the rare cases when an elevator shaft bends, the speed is measured along the axis of the shaft and not vertically.
Elevator speed is given in meters per second (m/sec) or feet per minute (ft/min).
The fastest elevator supplies the maximum even if another elevator travels a greater distance. A speed available only after a future modification does not describe what the elevator can achieve in its present form.
