The number of distinct control points for operating and monitoring a movable bridge, attached to it or nearby.
The number of bridge tender houses belonging to any movable bridge is the total number of distinct control points where bridge operators can control and monitor that bridge's movements. The houses may be attached directly to the bridge, or may be located in the near vicinity.
Each control point provides a place for operators to direct or monitor bridge movement. It can be physically attached to the bridge or located in its immediate vicinity.
The number of movable leaves counts moving deck sections. One control point can operate more than one section, so the two counts need not coincide.
