radio transmission

A site broadcasting radio signals through the air, usually from an elevated position to reach a wide area.

Radio transmission sites are used to disseminate radio signals, generally over as wide an area as possible. They are usually located in high places, either on hilltops or at the tops of towers and tall buildings.

The use concerns transmission of the station's signal. A studio can produce programming elsewhere, and receiving a radio broadcast alone does not make a site a transmitter.

Hilltops, towers, and tall buildings are common elevated locations. The transmission function can apply without one particular tower height or structural form.
