Related terms: mobile phone transmission

A site transmitting or relaying cellular telephone signals, commonly from antennas on towers or buildings.

Cellular phone transmission sites are points where cellular telephone signals are relayed between the sender and receiver. They are usually located atop towers or structures of medium height - normally not as high as radio and television transmission towers.

The site forms part of the mobile telephone signal path. An area where people can use phones is not a transmission site merely because reception is available.

Towers and existing structures can both carry the equipment. Their usual moderate height is descriptive rather than a required height range.
