skybridge

An enclosed footbridge shared by two or more connected buildings, whether public or private.

A skybridge is an enclosed bridge which is shared between connected buildings, and is used for foot traffic. It may form part of a pedway network if it is open to the public; however most skybridges above the lower floor levels are private or reserved for tenant use, and do not belong to pedways.

Bridge-like spans within a single building (e.g. across an atrium) do not count as skybridges. Whenever a skybridge is present, the feature should always be applied to at least two buildings.

Public access is optional for a skybridge, although it matters when identifying a public pedway network. A private tenant bridge can qualify, while an enclosed span wholly inside one building cannot.
