retail

Space used for the trading of goods and services between vendors and consumers.

Retail usages are spaces where people purchase and exchange goods and services directly. This includes restaurants, shops, and customer service areas of various kinds, but it does not include stock exchanges, logistics centers, or other centers of indirect or intermediate commerce.

Shops supply goods for customers to take away. Retail services supply actions or use of a facility, and gastronomy covers establishments whose main activity is serving food or drink.

The direct transaction distinguishes retail premises from the excluded indirect or intermediate commercial activities. A logistics center moving goods between supply-chain stages does not become retail space merely because those goods will eventually be sold.
