group of companies

A corporate union or association of multiple companies which retain their separate identities.

A group of companies is any set of companies which form a corporate union without actually merging. It is distinguished from a consortium, which is a group of companies cooperating momentarily on some particular project.

The constituent companies remain separate identities within a corporate association. Their union does not itself mean that they have merged into a single company.

A consortium brings firms together for a particular building or project. The corporate union of a company group is distinct from that project-specific cooperation.
