object naming

Types of recognized text identifiers for an object, including names, abbreviations, and other naming forms.

The type of any name indicates how any given text identifier for an object behaves as data, for purposes of listing, searching, sorting, and describing. An object's official name or standard name is listed simply as its "name", and others are sorted accordingly into different types.

Each name type is time-sensitive and language-sensitive, so that different language versions (translations & transliterations) and time versions (former & future names) are stored under the same respective types. Thus, both former and future names may be stored under the same type, and delineated on a timeline through the time values assigned to them.

A full name preserves an unabridged form, while an abbreviated name is a shortened alternative. A name's language and period of validity are separate from whether it is full, abbreviated, or standard.
