damaged by earthquake

Natural earthquake vibrations or ground movements damage or destroy a built object or any of its components.

A built object is damaged by an earthquake when any natural vibrations or movements in the ground or landscape cause damage which destroys or degrades the structure or its components. This event does not apply when a structure survives an earthquake without any apparent physical damage.

The event requires apparent physical damage to the object. Experiencing the earthquake while remaining undamaged does not qualify.

Damage by soil movements expressly excludes earthquakes. The earthquake event includes partial degradation of components and does not require total structural collapse.
