A brewery is an industrial facility for medium- or large-scale production of beer. A brewery typically houses each stage of the brewing process (mashing, lautering, boiling, fermenting, conditioning, and filtering) and usually also bottles its own beer.

The facility makes the beer. A bottling plant can package beer produced elsewhere without becoming a brewery.

Bottling on site is usual but optional. The production scale distinguishes this industrial use from a small brewing operation incidental to serving customers in an eatery.
