tube-in-tube
A system which combines an exceptionally strong perimeter frame with a similar tube at the core.

A tube-in-tube structural system employs the same principle as the framed or trussed tube, but with one such tube at the building's core supplementing and reinforcing another at the perimeter.
The system has an inner structural tube at the core and an outer tube around the perimeter. The core tube supplements the force-resisting action of the outer one.
This inside-and-outside arrangement distinguishes it from several tubes bundled together. An ordinary central core without the tube action described here does not by itself establish a tube-in-tube system.
