damaged by snow overload

The weight of accumulated snow on a structure's roof or sides causes partial or total collapse.

A structure is damaged by snow overload when a heavy amount of snow on its roof or sides causes a partial or total collapse. This does not include structures damaged through movements of snow or ice such as avalanches; nor does it include structures flooded, inundated, rotted, or mold-damaged by melting snow.

The mechanism is the load of accumulated snow causing collapse. Avalanche damage instead concerns snow, ice, or sludge moving onto the structure.

Damage from melting snow entering as water is excluded here. Inundation and related mold or material damage fall within damage by flooding when its conditions are met.
