damaged by landslide

Impacts from sliding or falling earth or rocks damage a structure partly or completely.

A structure is damaged by a landslide when surrounding earth or rocks become loose and slide or fall onto the structure, causing notable damage. This does not pertain to damage by snow or ice avalanches, nor does it pertain to ground shifting under a structure.

The earth or rock must move onto the structure and cause notable damage. Soil movement damage separately concerns settling or shifting ground imposing movement or stress on it.

Avalanche damage covers the snow, ice, or sludge masses described there. Rockfalls belong to this landslide event even when the movement is primarily a fall.
