natural commodity storage
Bulk storage facilities for raw non-agricultural products harvested or extracted from the earth.
Natural commodity storage facilities are places where large amounts of unsorted, unpackaged, and relatively homogeneous products extracted or harvested from the earth are stored, usually at a transfer point in the distribution process. These include minerals as well as water, but exclude fuel products, agricultural products, and forestry products.
The material is held as a relatively homogeneous bulk commodity. Mineral materials and water are included without requiring a particular vessel or building type.
Fuel, agricultural products, and forestry products retain their separate storage groups. Extraction from the earth alone does not override those material distinctions.
