hipped roof
A roof with four or more uneven sides which slope up to a connecting ridgeline.
A hipped roof is sloped on at least four sides, but instead of meeting at a point the sides meet along a ridgeline. Hipped roofs can have more than 4 sides if set atop an L-shaped or other bent floorplan in which the ridgeline curves or bends at an angle.
The slopes join along a ridge. A pyramidal roof instead brings its sides together at one point.
A bent plan can produce additional sides and a bent or curved ridge. More than four sides does not by itself make the roof a different form.
