illuminated logo

A facade-mounted identifying or promotional sign visible from the surrounding area and capable of nighttime illumination.

An illuminated logo is any advertisement, tenant logo, building identifier, or brand promotion which is placed on a building's facade so that it can be seen from the surrounding landscape. Logos or signs visible mainly at the entrance do not count; they should generally be placed high on the building.

Such logos should be capable of being lit at night, either from within the sign or by directed floodlights. They can either be installed on the facade or built in as an architectural element. Abstract and decorative lighting features do not count as illuminated logos.

The sign can be illuminated internally or by directed lights, so internal illumination is not required. Ornamental illumination has a decorative lighting purpose without identifying a tenant, building, or brand; an entrance-only sign lacks the wider visibility required here.
